hello baby

Sticky, Jettie and I are over the moon to announce…

gender_reveal_rammel_1A lil man.  In our family.  How incredibly amazing!  He looks good too – growing ahead of schedule, healthy and fidgety like his old man.  Jettie has claimed since day one that there is a baby brother in my belly.  (Then again if asked whether it’s a boy or girl she still says girl – we’ll work on that.)  Sticky and I on the other hand were completely surprised.  It’s not that we were leaning towards girl.  For whatever reason this time around we had no gut feeling.  Obviously all anyone could ever wish for is healthy.  We would have been perma-smile, happy as clams either way.  And now that we know – wow.  A boy.  Oh my goodness a boy!

A very special thank to our Jettie Jean for standing in the arctic chill and giving us that big frozen smile.  We had 5 seconds and one shot before she turned into a complete popsicle.  We sure love you baby girl!

Yesterday, we came across an ig with the phrase “too blessed to be stressed”.  A simple yet powerful statement with pure truth to it.  There are a hundred reasons I could list for being stressed.  Yet it only takes a few far better ones not to be.  His warm embrace, her giggle, his ultrasound picture.  Life is good.  We are blessed.

Here’s to a weekend full of joy and blessings!  Thank you for sharing in ours!

inspired by pink and red

Valentine season or not pink and red has always been one of my all time favorite color combinations. It’s bold, girlie and powerful. Separately they are perfectly lovely shades – put them together and they make a strong feminine statement. Whether it be a room or your look there are plenty of ways to infuse a little pink and red into your world:

white chocolate covered popcorn

valentine_popcorn_1
Another snowed in, sleepy day here for us. Is it me, or does all this snow just make you want to nap? I feel like I have been in a snow-coma for a few months now, and the end is no where in sight (according to mister groundhog- and also our local farmers who know EVERYTHING when it comes to the weather in my experience.)  All of this never ending snow has caused us to get pretty creative in entertaining locked-in toddlers, and cups of popcorn are a favorite new snack.  Josh got a new popcorn maker for Christmas- so watching it pop is part of the fun- and then deciding how to dress up the boring popcorn is the next step.

This is definately a sweeter-take on this snack, but super yummy if you’re a salty-sweet lover like me!

one_year_1
It’s our birthday!!! Today we celebrate one year. One year of sharing our lives, our favorite outfits, recipes, cocktails, and books. Things that inspire us, and our deepest struggles. Big moments, little thoughts and everything in between. Our hearts.

From the start, we have been so overwhelmed by the support and kind words of our readers. Writing those very first posts we certainly had butterflies- does anyone really care what we have to say? But love poured in from every outlet, giving us the confidence to dig deeper. Talk about the “not so pretty”, right there along side the pretty. We can not express how lucky we feel to have the opportunity to connect through this little space.

her maternity style | josie

Say hello to Josie. Gorgeous smile and effortless style – those are the first things that come to my mind every time her name comes up. This pretty girl has been on my short list of someone I wanted to feature on PPJ since day 1. When I found out she was expecting I could not wait any longer and had to photograph that bump. Seemed like weather was fighting us through all the scheduling so of course we ended up with a rainy photo shoot. Nothing a couple of umbrellas can’t handle though.

maternity_style_josie_5Sometimes it can be hard to parlay your existing style into maternity. Josie brings liquid leggings and a pregnancy friendly jersey top to her world with smart layers and accessories. She has always been a girl who can rock a flannel. The luxe vest and statement necklace add a feminine touch while her little top bun keeps it simple. Of course we can’t forget about the best part of the look – that little baby boy bump.

maternity_style_josie_1 maternity_style_josie_3 maternity_style_josie_4Thank you Josie for playing in the rain with me for a bit! You are a stunning reminder how magical and beautiful pregnancy is. Enjoy that belly these final short weeks ahead. Congratulations to you and Chris, nothing but good wishes for your precious little man!
