blush: cream or powder

Have you ever wondered what the difference was between cream and powder blush? When to use which or which one is better? Honestly it is personal preference. There is no right or wrong choice. One thing to consider when deciding is your skin type and the over all look you are trying to achieve. If your skin tends to be oily, my advice is to stick with powder blush to control oil and shine. If you have normal to dry skin, you’re in luck, either one will work. That soft dewy natural cheek is achieved when lightly brushing on liquid blush or dabbing it on with your fingertips. If you are wanting to contour your cheekbones for a more finished look reach for powder blush. If you only use cream try powder, if you only use powder try creme. I dare you! I will say, I have to admit that 95% of the time I’m wearing powder blush, but on occasion I like to change it up with cream blush.

black, brown and denim

Lately I have been obsessed with the classic combo of black, brown and denim.  Truth be told I turn to this look when I am in a hurry or in no mood to fuss with color or pattern.  This trio is easy, smart and leaves me feeling put together for the entire day.  Never ever again question whether black goes with brown – it ALWAYS does, especially when there’s a pair of jeans involved.

Some of the best basics to have in your closet.blackbrowndenim_11. Forever 21 sweater 2. H&M belt 3. H&M jeans 4. Forever 21 bracelet 5. Aldo boots

sparkling shamrock

March is here which means St Patty’s day is just around the corner.  Traditionally this holiday is filled with Irish ale, car bombs and green beer.  Great options, yes, but we were hoping for something a little more fun to hold.  Enter Sparkling Shamrock Champagne – bubbly, a tad sweet and pretty in green.  The ideal cocktail for anyone feeling fancy on St Patty’s.cocktail1

Sparkling Shamrock (recipe from Formal Fringe)

  • Your favorite dry (Brut) champagne, chilled
  • Midori melon liqueur
  • Honeydew balls (or if you happen to own a mini shamrock cookie cutter now is the time to use it)
  • Green sugar (sugar mixed with green food coloring)

Take a melon ball and run it around the rim of a champagne flute.  Dip rim in sugar.  Pour 2oz of Midori in glass then top with champagne.  Place a melon ball on a toothpick, cover in sugar and place on top of champagne flute.  Drop melon ball in glass right before drinking for maximum bubble pleasure and a touch of extra sweetness.  Enjoy!cocktail2Cheers to March, the weekend and pretending we are Irish later this month!

spring fever

As winter’s end approaches I think we all feel a little blah. I find myself searching for little things to brighten these dreary days. I have found its the little extra pop that really adds a big punch.  Adding a little extra color to your look, your wardrobe or your accessories is a sure-fire way to brighten your day!

cosmetics

1. Throwing on a fun new lipstick adds a punch of color like M.A.C. in Viva Glam Nicki. 2. A statement M.A.C. eyeliner in designer Purple, adds a fun pop of color to your eyes with little fuss. 3. Even a pop of pink on the nails always brightens your look. O.P.I. “I’m all ears,” is a fun shade to add to your collection.

Go searching for that perfect, bold color or funky print blazer to add to your wardrobe and it’s  guaranteed to brighten any day and you will definitely feel like Spring is right around the corner!

blazers1. coral blazer, forever 21  2. floral print blazer, Loft.

Even a fabulous handbag in a pop of color will add a taste of spring fever to your wardrobe. Nothing like a statement bag in a fun color to complete your look!

purses

1. Yellow, snakeskin shoulder bag,  H&M.  2. Green envelope ostrich clutch, Target. 3. Mint shoulder bag, Chicwish

Even though winter is still hanging around for a little longer, it doesn’t mean we can’t feel a little Spring fever! Bright bold color choices are a guaranteed winter blues, no more attitude!
