4 at-home gel polish’s to try now

Gel manicures are all the buzz right now- and whats even better is that you don’t have to visit the salon to get one.  Honestly, I’m not much of a manicure girl.  Polish doesn’t last on my fingers long with all of the baking I do, so I rarely even take the time to apply it.  Not to mention I have tiny nail beds and baby hands that really don’t need any attention drawn to them.

A few weeks ago I was strolling around Meijer and came across Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel polish.  No LED light required, just a fancy top coat- I decided to give it a go.  After trying (and loving!) it- I have been looking a bit more into these at-home gel polishes simply because I was so impressed with the fact that I didnt need to worry about chips or reapplying for a week and a half!  So, here is what I have discovered:  Gel polish in the salon is actually not so great for your nails.  The LED light exposure is bad for your skin, and the chemicals involved are a bit questionable.  The at-home version is sort of a hybrid polish that combines gel- features without the harm from the lights and harsh chemicals and soaking it takes to remove the salon style manicure.

Here are 4 great brands to give a try if you want to see what all the rage is about (and all four are LED light free options! Score!)

1. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel   2.Loreal Extraordinaire  3. Julep  (You can try out a FREE Julep Maven box using this code!)  4. Nailsinc Gel Effect

  1. I definitely need to try this! my nails are to thin and gross, but my husband (still weird to say) does give me a manicure and pedicure every few weeks because he used to do it for a living for 10 years! A gel manicure around my neighborhood in Jersey City is $35! OUCH! I can buy a lot of polish for that much (and get better service right in my own living room too :P)

I don’t usually have much luck keeping polish on for very long either, too many dishes I guess. But I am on day 3 of my Sally Hansen No Light Gel polish and they still look pretty good! Thanks for the tip and the review…
